Two Targets, One Hit: new Anticancer Therapeutics to Prevent Tumorigenesis Without Cardiotoxicity

نویسندگان

چکیده

A serious adverse effect of cancer therapies is cardiovascular toxicity, which significantly limits the widespread use antineoplastic agents. The promising new field cardio-oncology offers identification potent anti-cancer therapeutics that effectively inhibit cell proliferation without causing cardiotoxicity. Future introduction recently identified cardio-safe compounds into clinical practice (including ERK dimerization inhibitors or BAX allosteric inhibitors) expected to help oncologists avoid unwanted cardiological complications associated with therapeutic interventions.

Cardiotoxicity of Anticancer Therapeutics

As cancer therapeutics continues to improve and progress, the adverse side effects associated with anticancer treatments have also attracted more attention and have become extensively explored. Consequently, the importance of posttreatment follow-ups is becoming increasingly relevant to the discussion. Contemporary treatment methods, such as tyrosine kinase inhibitors, anthracycline chemotherap...

Cardiotoxicity in cancer therapeutics

It has been increasingly recognized that cardiac disease is a comorbid condition for cancer patients that deserves special attention. Although the primary goal of cancer therapy remains to cure the lifethreatening disease, it is also important to maintain the highest possible quality of life, especially since more cancer patients survive either without cancer or with cancer as a manageable, chr...

NSAIDs: Old Drugs Reveal New Anticancer Targets

There is compelling evidence that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and cyclooxygenase-2 selective inhibitors have antineoplastic activity, but toxicity from cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibition and the suppression of physiologically important prostaglandins limits their use for cancer chemoprevention. Previous studies as reviewed here suggest that the mechanism for their anticancer prop...

HIT: linking herbal active ingredients to targets

The information of protein targets and small molecule has been highly valued by biomedical and pharmaceutical research. Several protein target databases are available online for FDA-approved drugs as well as the promising precursors that have largely facilitated the mechanistic study and subsequent research for drug discovery. However, those related resources regarding to herbal active ingredie...

Entamoeba Encystation: New Targets to Prevent the Transmission of Amebiasis

Amebiasis is caused by Entamoeba histolytica infection and can produce a broad range of clinical signs, from asymptomatic cases to patients with obvious symptoms. The current epidemiological and clinical statuses of amebiasis make it a serious public health problem worldwide. The Entamoeba life cycle consists of the trophozoite, the causative agent for amebiasis, and the cyst, the form responsi...
